Groupe d'homotopie $\pi_{n-1}(GL_N(\Bbb C))$
- $ \ \sigma_D ( \xi ) = \displaystyle \sum_{ i = 1 }^n a_i \xi_i $ is invertible for every $ \xi \in \mathbb{R}^n \setminus \{ 0 \} $.
- $ \ \sigma_D ( \xi ) = \displaystyle \sum_{ i = 1 }^n a_i \xi_i $ defines an element of the homotopy group $ \pi_{n-1} ( GL_N ( \mathbb{C} ) ) $ ?
Merci d'avance.

... Indeed, if we take for instance, $ D = \displaystyle \sum_{ i = 1 }^{n} a_i \partial_{x_{ \displaystyle i}} $, a differential operator of order $ 1 $ on the torus $ \mathbb{T}^n $, with constant matrix coefficients $ a_i \in GL_N ( \mathbb{C} ) $, its symbol, $ \sigma_D ( \xi ) = \displaystyle \sum_{ i = 1 }^n a_i \xi_i $ is invertible for every $ \xi \in \mathbb{R}^n \setminus \{ 0 \} $, and defines an element of the homotopy group $ \pi_{n-1} ( GL_N ( \mathbb{C} ) ) $.
Moreover, $$
\pi_{n-1} ( GL_N ( \mathbb{C} ) ) = \begin{cases} \mathbb{Z} \ \ \text{if} \ \ n \ \ \text{is even} \\ 0 \ \ \text{otherwise} \end{cases}$$
